2 Housing Division Creates sustainable, affordable housing for low- income households and persons with special needs; preserves and improves existing affordable housing; and assists vulnerable families and individuals with services to meet their basic housing needs. 3 Motivation for creating the Tribal Weatherization Project  Native American population underserved according to census and weatherization data  Standard model for weatherization service delivery not filling the tribal need

4 Goals  Develop government-to-government relationships with tribes in support of Washington’s Centennial Accord  Coordinate meetings between tribes and local agency weatherization providers where needed and requested  Develop weatherization technical skills within the tribes that will supplement Washington’s efforts in energy conservation through weatherization

5 Commitment  Weatherization Tribal Liaison oFull time staff person dedicated to working with tribes  Budget includes oLiaison Position oTravel, trainings, and meetings oRFP for weatherization service delivery programs

6 The Tribal Weatherization Project  Explore new ideas  Identify unique service delivery options  Provide training for tribal staff  Build partnerships with local weatherization providers and tribes  Conservation education for tribal families  Establish Tribal Weatherization Working Group

7 Liaison Outreach to Tribal Leaders  Sent a letter of introduction to Tribal Chair with copies to the Tribal Housing Authority and Tribal LIHEAP Coordinator  Arranges meetings with each tribe as requested  Schedule meetings with the local weatherization agencies  Facilitates strategic planning meetings with tribe and local agency as requested
