 This short story titled “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is a brief story about everyone being equal. This short story takes place in futuristic settings of the year 2081, where George and Hazel Bergeron’s fourteen-year-old son, Harrison is taken away;( by the Handicapper General men) to ensure equality. In “Harrison Bergeron” Vonnegut Jr. describes the unfair means, and burdens citizens’ deal with to promote correspondence, and shows the consequences when individuals go against the newly added 211 th,212 th, and 213 th amendment. H A R R I S O N B E R G E R O N HAZEL &GEORGE HANDICAPPER GENERAL

-FOCUS QUESTION-

 The exposition occurs in this short story when seven foot, fourteen-year-old, Harrison Bergeron is taken away by the government, from his oblivious parents. The government sends Harrison to jail because they consider his physical advancements as a threat to global equality. EXPOSITION Rising Action CLIMAX FALLING ACTION

 The rising action occurs when a ballerina reads a bulletin board that announces that Harrison Bergeron has escaped from prison, and his picture is shown on the screen. -NOTICE- Harrison Bergeron, s seven- foot-tall, fourteen-year-old has escaped from prison. If you find him, do not, I repeat do not make contact. He is a very dangerous criminal. H A R R I S O N B E R G E R O N

EXPOSITION CLIMAX Rising Action FALLING ACTION -Notice- Harrison Bergeron has escaped from prison, stay away!

 The rising action takes place when Harrison suddenly appears in the news room, rips his handicaps off, and declares himself emperor. Resembling Thor, the god of thunder he takes a ballerina who stands by him as empress and promises a batch of musicians riches if they play their best. NEWS ROOM LIVE PERFORMANCE OF BALLERINAS I will be your empress Hooray, now let’s danc e! LIVE, ON AIR

 As Harrison and his lovely new ballerina empress dance the night away, the falling action takes place when Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General arrives on the scene, shoots both of them and threatens the musicians to stop playing. DIE! YOUR TURN!! THAT’S HOW IT’S DONE!! HAHAHAHAH (EVIL LAUGHTER)

 “Harrison Bergeron” displays a wide variety of Science Fiction Elements including:  * FUTURISTIC SETTINGS: The year 2081(takes place in the future  * UNIDENTIFIED THEME: The theme is not clearly defined  * ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY: Government issued physical handicap implants  * INFLUENCE OF SCI-FI: Influence of advanced government technology to promote equality.

 Have you ever wondered what it would be like if everyone was equal? Or, have you ever wondered about the future. If so, this story is for you. In this entertaining Sci-FI short story the reader is captivated with the intense actions our futuristic government takes to promote equality. Overall, this story was very fun and interesting to read. Our Review:
