RESCUE OF MESSIAH MAT 2:13-16

MAT 2:13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

MAT 2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

MAT 2:14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,

MAT 2:15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."

HOS 11:1 "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

JOH 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

RELIEF FROM MESSIAH MAT 2:16-18

MAT 2:16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

MAT 2:17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

MAT 2:18 "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."

JER 31:15 This is what the LORD says: "A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more."

JER 31:16 This is what the LORD says: "Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded," declares the LORD. "They will return from the land of the enemy.

JER 31:17 So there is hope for your future," declares the LORD. "Your children will return to their own land.

JER 31:31 "The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

MAT 26:28 (KJV) For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

MAT 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

REJECTION OF MESSIAH MAT 2:19-23

MAT 2:19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt

MAT 2:20 and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead."

MAT 2:21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

MAT 2:22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,

MAT 2:23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."

ISA 11:1 A shoot [ne ṣ er]will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

ISA 60:21 Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot [ne ṣ er] I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor.

ISA 53:2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot [ne ṣ er], and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

JOH 1:45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

JOH 1:46 "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.

ACT 24:5 "We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect

QUOTE Matthew’s reflection on Jesus’ early life thus intends for his readers to see a double meaning in the expression “Jesus the Nazarene.” On the one hand, Jesus is the fulfillment of the hope for a messianic neṣer —the “Branch” out of the line of David. On the other hand, Jesus’ association with lowly Nazareth gives notice that his coming is not in glory but in humble surroundings. Wilkins, Michael J. The NIV Application Commentary: Matthew (p. 119).

1 PET 2:23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

FAITHFUL IN PROTECTING MESSIAH RESCUE OF MESSIAH RELIEF FROM MESSIAH REJECTION OF MESSIAH

FAITHFUL IN PROTECTING MESSIAH IN THE MIDST OF TROUBLED TIMES I WILL CONTINUE TO TRUST AND OBEY A FAITHFUL GOD WHO IS ABLE TO PROTECT

MAT 1:24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

MAT 1:25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

MAT 2:14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,
