LONG TERM GOAL.  Students should be able to answer, discuss and defend the ideology of jihad in the light of Islam, in its right perspective especially in today’s era where jihad has been mistaken as a terrorist act by the world.  Teaching about jihad to students will help them learn to struggle and strive in all aspects of their life.

SHORT TERM GOALS The following topics will be covered. 1) Definition of Jihad 2) Jihad in the light of Quran 3) Jihad in the light of Sunnah 4) Types of Jihad 5) Conditions for Jihad

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES AND TASK  References taken from different books, notes will be compiled and distributed among the students  Discussion forums will be made and students will be encouraged to talk on the topic keeping in view the present circumstances.  Students will be given the task to gather information on all the Islamic battles fought, their strategies, loop holes and the out come of the battle.  At the end the class, students will be made to solve some MCQ’s so they become aware of the types of questions faced in exam.

REVIEW OF LITERATURE TO BE TAUGHT.  Jihad in Arabic means 'struggle to strive for a particular cause'  There are two different types of Jihad  Lesser Jihad refers to the act of struggle against oppression and injustice towards God's people.  Greater Jihad refers to inner spiritual striving to avoid sin in Islam.Islam

Types Of Jihad in the light of Quran and Hadith;

JIHAD BIL QITAAL "The Prophet said, 'A single endeavor of fighting in Allah's Cause is better than the world and whatever is in it.'“  Qur'an 4:74 "Let those who struggle in Allah's Cause sell this world's life for the hereafter. To him who fights in Allah's Cause, whether he is slain or victorious, We shall give him a reward."

EILMI JIHADD JIHAD BIL ILM قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَالَّذِينَ لا يَعْلَمُونَ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ And Say: Can You Put On Equal Footing Those Who Are Learned With Those Who Are Not Learned? JIHAD BIL MAAL. الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُم بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلاَنِيَةً فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ Those Who In Charity Spend Of Their Goods By Night And By Day, In Secret And In Public, Have Their Reward With Their Lord.
