St. Angela’s Primary School and Nursery Class Information Evening May 10 th, 2011

Agenda  Parent Questionnaires  Vision, Values and Aims  Staffing/ Classification  Assessment  Reporting

Vision, Values and Aims As a Catholic school we aim to provide a caring, secure, stimulating and welcoming environment for all, in partnership with the Church, staff, pupils, parents/carers and the wider community. Through the Curriculum for Excellence our ambition is to create effective learners capable of achieving their full potential, enabling them to develop the skills and attributes of confident, successful individuals. We aspire to instil in them the values and aims of responsible citizenship.

Staffing and Classification

Assessment  Why? Assessment is for Learning  When? Transitions= Continuity and Progression  How? Evidence Teachers’ professional judgement

Reporting  Best record of pupils’ progress is a profile supported by evidence of achievement New P7 and S3 profiles Records should be centred around the child

Reporting  New Format  Developing/ Consolidating/ Secure  Reports should focus on achievements to date and next steps in learning.  Less reporting as an event  Balance between: parent meetings/ reports/ work folders/ PLPs/jotters  Let you lead the process

Reporting  What do you want to know Is my child safe/ happy/fitting in? Is my child achieving? Is my child on track? Next steps in learning Is additional support needed? Does my child have skills in particular subjects? How can I help?

Reporting  Reporting on Skills Development rather than subject areas Literacy and numeracy Thinking skills Personal learning planning/ working with others/ leadership Physical coordination and movement skills Skills for enterprise
