My rationale for teaching PDHPE
Rationale PDHPE is a vitally important subject for primary school children. A well-organised and effectively and enthusiastically taught curriculum can help to contribute to children leading healthy lifestyles. A healthy lifestyle gives children the greatest chance of achieving and maintaining mental, physical, social and spiritual wellbeing.
Why is PDHPE important? it encourages an understanding and valuing of self and others it promotes physical activity it emphasises informed decision making that leads to effective and responsible action
The study of PDHPE should be concerned with: physical, social, cognitive and emotional growth and development patterns the development and maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships the factors influencing personal health choices living and learning in a safe and secure environment the adoption of an active lifestyle fundamental movement patterns and coordinated actions of the body skills that enable better action for better health and movement outcomes
Personal aims To instil in my students a thorough and meaningful understanding of the elements of the NSW Department of Education PDHPE Syllabus To do my utmost to instil in my students a genuine love of physical activity and an understanding of the importance and benefits of a healthy lifestyle
