Braunstone Outer City estate in the West of Leicester, built around the ‘Braunstone estate’ (Braunstone Hall and park) Built in the 1930’s as a garden suburb to house artisans (South Braunstone) and residents decanted from the city slums (North Braunstone) Around 5000 homes with a population of just under 14,000 Largely White British, but new communities starting to move in 30%: 0-15 years, 53%:16-60 years and 17%: 60+ Braunstone came top of the index for social deprivation for the East Midlands, with particularly poor scores for health and education
