Back to the ‘80s

Stakeholders ● Marketplace competitors (direct and indirect) ● Consumers ● Lenders/Creditors ● Management and employees ● Shareholders

Force Field Analysis Forces for change: ● Competitors began selling products online ● DIY movement ● Lacked quality inventory that customers didn’t want Forces against change: ●Well known brand name in the market ●Past success with storefront layouts ●Most people were close to a RadioShack

What happened to RadioShack? ● Failed to ramp up movement into the e-commerce world with competition ● Did not promptly address changing customer tastes/preferences o More customers buying online instead of in-store o Lack of new, top-of-the-line products ● Inability to market themselves effectively (“The Shack”)

Discussion Questions 1.Do you think there is any way RadioShack could redeem themselves and come out of their bankruptcy? 2.Do you think that the long history and culture of RadioShack helped or hurt them in the long run?
