The High-Precision Small Hole Driller K1BL The High-Precision Small Hole Driller

K1BL

What Comes with the K1BL? Linear motor on Z-Axis AEC (Automatic Electrode Changer) LN Assist Automatic depth measurement One electrode holder 10off ø0.15mm electrodes 1 electrode guide for ø0.15mm electrode Workpiece fixture LAN connection Dielectric chiller

K1BL: AEC (Automatic Electrode Changer) Electrode holder One holder is packed with machine as standard. Inside the holder, there is a collet of 1.1mm. In order to use AEC, extra 17 holders are required. AEC unit Electrode guide One guide for ø0.15mm electrode is supplied as standard. The guides should be changed depending on electrode diameter.

Gripping face of 1.0mm diameter K1BL Electrode Gripping face of 1.0mm diameter Electrode (ø0.08 – 0.25mm) Normally, electrode of K1BL has gripping face of ø1.0mm as shown above. The gripping face has always diameter of 1.0mm regardless of electrode diameter, which means you can always use the same electrode holder (collet). Although electrodes without gripping face are also available, they are not recommended due to their unstable cutting performance. When customer requires them, they need collets depending on electrode size

K1BL: Available Options The following options are available Oscilloscope Remote controller Machine Hour meter Work light Guide sets/ electrode ø0.08 – 0.25mm Electrode holder stand

The High-Precision Small Hole Driller K3BL The High-Precision Small Hole Driller

What Comes with the K3BL? Linear motor on Z-Axis LN Assist Automatic depth measurement 1 electrode holder 10 pieces of ø0.15mm electrodes 1 set of electrode guide for ø0.15mm electrode Workpiece fixture LAN connection Dielectric chiller

K3BL: Available Options The following options are available Oscilloscope Remote controller Machine Hour meter Work light Guide sets/ electrode ø0.08 – 3.0mm Electrode holder stand Automation

K3BL: Options for Automation Sodick offers several options for automated operation 18 ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) 18 ATC + LGC (Lower Guide Changer) 15 ATC + AEF (Automatic Electrode Feeder) 15 ATC + AEF + LGC

K3BL: ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) Electrode holder 18-position electrode holder. (15 positions, when AEF is equipped) In the electrode holder, a collet is set which should be changed in accordance with electrode size ATC unit Lower electrode guide The guides should be changed depending on electrode diameter

K3BL: ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) Electrode holder (collet is inside) Electrode

K3BL: AEF (Automatic Electrode Feeder) Automated operation is realized by feeding electrodes. Electrodes larger than ø0.5mm are available. AEF Nozzle (Must be changed depending on electrode dia.) AEF: Electrode storage capacity Ø0.5mm: 40 Ø1.0mm: 25 Ø2.0mm: 15 Ø3.0mm: 5 Max. electrode length: 300mm NOTE: The image shows AEF of K3HN

K3BL: LGC (Lower Guide Changer) Lower electrode guides have to be changed, in accordance with electrode diameter LGC allows unattended operation with the use of ATC, when several sizes of electrodes are used. Maximum capacity of guides= 4

K3BL: Locations of AEF, ATC & LGC

Case Study with K1BL #1 Customer’s application; fine electric molds Finish ø1.5mm hole with wire-cut EDM on 0.5mm steel -> Start hole of ø1.2mm drilled by Sodick K1BL Results: Cutting time= 1min 55sec per hole Finished hole size= ø1.21mm (top), ø1.23mm (bottom) Electrode wear= 97% (270 holes can be drilled with single electrode)

Case Study with K1BL #2 Customer’s application; energy industry Finish ø0.2mm hole with wire EDM -> start hole by K1BL Workpiece: Steel (1.0mm thickness) Electrode: ø0.13mm Cu pipe electrode Cutting time: 10 minutes per hole (drilled from both side) Electrode wear: 242% (18-20 holes per electrode) Top surface Bottom surface

Case Study with K1BL #2

Advantages for Drilling with K series Quicker drilling time, because of flushing through pipe electrodes No need to dress electrodes to required diameter Automated operation is possible Cutting conditions can be searched by LN Assist
