Why Africa ? Abundance of natural resources: Oil Reserves – Billion barrels accounting for around 10% of total world oil reserves Primary Contributors Nigeria & Libya Currently 6 countries Nigeria, Libya, Algeria, Angola, Sudan & Egypt together hold 95% of total oil reserves Oil Production – Crude oil production 10,410 bopd (barrels of oil per day) – 13% of world production Nigeria, Algeria, Libya, Angola, Egypt and Sudan account for approximately 86% of Africa’s total oil production Oil Consumption – 3% of World Total Consumption at 2,944 bopd

Why Africa ?..Cont Abundance of natural resources: Natural Gas Reserves - As of January 2007, Africa held proven Gas Reserves of 14,416 Bcm (Billion Cubic Meters) representing 4% of World’s total proven Gas reserves Reserves mainly concentrated in Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Libya and Angola Gas Production – More than doubled in the last decade from 88.5 Bcm to Bcm Contributes 7% of the World’s total Gas Production LNG Capacity – Africa holds 54.3 Mmtpa (Million tones per annum) or 30% of the world’s liquefaction capacity. Capacity expected to more than double by 2010

Why Africa ?..Cont India the net importer of crude oil imports about 75% of its oil requirement and about 16% of Indian crude imports are from Africa Traditional trade partners with geographical proximity We have reasons to be ‘interdependent’
