What is understanding? Result of an interpretation process Interpretation Process Degree of Understanding

Issues Understanding is an ongoing process, evolving over time – How can you represent this? – What influences understanding and how much? – What happens if you understand something better? Communication – Providing information, Questioning, Order – Representation of communication signals – Improve communication between humans and robots

Issues Knowledge of task structure eases understanding – Known beforehand – Ongoing process of updating structure – Without known roles, understanding changes more than with roles Observation is important to understand – Observation of environment

Issues How should understanding be represented – How is understanding represented in humans? – Do agents/robots need to have the same representation as humans? – Representation depends on capabilities Focus on individual, but shared understanding is also important! – How to come from individual understanding to shared understanding? – (future work)

Milestones Decide on milestones! To be continued……
