English Pathways Everyone who does the English MA must choose a pathway. We have a number of pathways through the degree: Open Pathway Critical Theory Romantic and Victorian Literature Modern and Contemporary Literature Shakespeare and the British Dramatic Tradition

Foundation Module (English and World Lits) The Foundation module aims to give MA students orientation in critical theory as well as training in research tools. The Foundation Module is compulsory for all English and World Lits MA students. The Foundation module consists of two distinct elements: Introduction to Research Methods, a seven-eight week intensive module focusing on how to conduct research at Warwick, assessed by a short bibliography exercise. And English: Critical Theory, a term-length module, assessed by a 6,000 word essay. Or World Lits: World Literature and World Systems, a term-length module, assessed by a 6,000 word essay Both elements of the module are compulsory.

MATTS Structure 4 taught modules and a dissertation, including: 2 core modules (EN964 and EN971) and 2 option modules and COMPULSORY Introduction to Research Methods

Students must register for and use a Warwick address – the Graduate Secretary sends lots of information by , as do I. Please check this regularly, or automatically forward mails to your personal . Check the noticeboard for who your Personal Tutor is. Students should make a point of meeting with their pt during first two weeks. MA essays are submitted online and the Graduate Secretary will details of how to do this out to all students a few weeks beforehand.

The Graduate secretary says: Remind students to refer to MA handbook – almost all the information they need throughout their MA is included in the handbook. If you can’t find the information there, ask Sam, or me, or Chantal or Stephen or your PT.
