God Doesn’t Want Me To Be Rich
Presumes God will always bless His children with ample money and good health. That is not necessarily true. How does God really bless us?
Mark 11:24 -- Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Jeremiah 29:11 -- For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
Philippians 4:19 -- And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. 3 John 2 -- Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
Mark 4:19 -- …but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.
To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.
“Be on the guard for all kinds of greed. Rich man produces a good crop. Builds bigger barns. Eat, drink, be merry. Died that night. “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.
Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil
Matthew 6: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
…it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God…Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
2 Corinthians 12:9 -- But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
1 Timothy 6: But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
