Presentation transcript:

It was a warm but windy day and the year 5s were exploding with excitement … we were heading off to Camp Kaitawa!!! The Lake, the mountain, the Falls, the Caves and the best part is… they were all challenges!!!!! Camp was exhausting and… INTENSE!!!

Finally we got to camp. Then straight away it was time for our first adventure. We were heading off to the beautiful Green Lake. It was the most wonderful greeny blue colour. It put me in the most amazing trance. I dipped my hand in there and it was freezing cold! I loved the Green lake, it was awesome.

After our good night of rest we had to conquer Ngamoko (the huge mountain). It was the hardest thing on camp. We were supplied with Barley Sugars, Scroggin and Moro Bars (yummy). We stopped to have morning tea at a tree over 1000 years old… the Rata tree of course, it was humungous!!! Then it was back to walking. Near the top we had lunch. We got up to 1050m above sea level. It was the hardest walk I’ve ever been on. 7 1/2 hours it took us, but still it was phenomenal!!!

Again another good night of sleep. Today we were going to the Falls. They were flabbergasting! They were on a loop track. There were 2 awesome waterfalls. They were beautiful! We also saw a Weta Luxury Hotel (a wooden box with spaces for Wetas to sleep). What a day!!!

That night I was restless; it was so hot! But today we were going through the muddy, the squishy, the dark, the spooky, the low… CAVES!!! We all brought our headlamps for the spook that was ahead of us. I can’t believe some of them were so low we had to go on our hands and knees. We went through 8 caves! (some big and some small). 1 of them looked like it had footprints on it. Finally we made it to the last cave. The mud was so sticky you could easily get stuck. You had to use your upper body strength to get up. That was a great challenge.

Sadly we had come to the last day. We all had such a great time. But it was time to go. Bye, bye Camp Kaitawa. Well what a camp I had the best time ever!!!
