Early years March 1957: John Lennon and Pete Shotton started a group called «The Black Jacks» to play Sciffle and America Rock and Roll. They soon changed the name to «The Quarry Men».
July 6, 1957, John Lennon along with«The Quarry Men» had just finished performing at St. Peter’s Parish Church in Woolton, Liverpool when Ivan Vaughn introduced him to a J.P. McCartney who played «Twenty Flight Rock» for John. On Februry 6, 1958, Paul introduced George to John. On August 29, 1958, John accepted George into «The Quarry Men», wich would then grow into seven members. «The Quarry Men»

In January 1960, John invited an art student Sutcliff to join the group on the condition he got his own bass. In June, they modified their name to the «Silver Beatles». The Silver Beatles
In early May a 25 year old drummer - Tommy Moore - joined them. On May 18 they began a nine day tour in Scotland backing performer Johnny Gentle. Tommy left the group afterwards due to financial obligations. In July 1960 they discovered a drummer - Norman Chapman - who joined them until he was called for national service duty. On August 6, 1960, they invited their friend Pete Best to become their permanent drummer.
On August 18, 1960 «The Beatles» began a series of gigs in Hamburg, and John renamed the group The Beatles. On February9, 1961 «The Beatles» first performed at the Cavern Club A series of gigs in Hamburg and the Cavern Club

Origin and years (September October 1999) The members of the band met at Ramsay Hall, a hall of residence at University College London in September The band took the name Coldplay.
In 1998, Coldplay was performing small club gigs for local Camden promoters. The result was the three track EP Brothers And Sisters which was quickly recorded over 4 days in February Coldplay was singed to Parlophone for a 5 album contract in the spring of 1999.
Parachutes (November September 2001) In November 1999, Coldplay focused their efforts on their debut album. The band spent the New Year by completing album tracks «Yellow» and «Everything’s Not Lost». June 2000 was a pivotal moment in Coldplay’s history. The band embarked on their first headlining tour. Parachutes was a modest success, and was certified with Gold status in the US.
A Rush of Blood to the Head (October 2001-mid-2004) Coldplay returned to the studios in October 2001 to begin work on their second album (A Rush of Blood to the Head in August 2002, «Politik», «In My Place», «The Scientist» and «Clocks»). Coldplay toured for over a year, from June 2002 to September 2003, visiting 5 contients («Live 2003», «2000 Miles», «Moses»)
X&Y (Mid-2004-present) Coldplay’s third album, X&Y, was released on 6 June 2005 in the UK («Speed of sound», «Fix You» in September and «Talk» in December. In May 2006 the band released «The Hardest Part» in several countries outside the UK»). In February 2006, Coldplay earned Best Album and Best Single honours at the Brit Awards.
