County University of the Third Age in Mikołów County is a common initiative of Head Office of Mikołów County, Association of Citizen Consultments “Dogma” and Silesian Academy of Physical Culture.County University of the Third Age in Mikołów County is a common initiative of Head Office of Mikołów County, Association of Citizen Consultments “Dogma” and Silesian Academy of Physical Culture. First informative meeting was held in November 2007, where the first member declarations were given. Since that time about 189 persons declared their strong will to participate in the classes. During the meetings the most active participants established the initiative group, which accepts the applications of new persons and helps other with necessary information.First informative meeting was held in November 2007, where the first member declarations were given. Since that time about 189 persons declared their strong will to participate in the classes. During the meetings the most active participants established the initiative group, which accepts the applications of new persons and helps other with necessary information. Regularly the relaxation exercises are conducted for the persons over 50. Grundtvig Partnerships „TANDEMS GO!- twinning the elderly and young people as a possibility of e- Learning”

This cross-generational project involved elderly people from all sectors of the community, including those suffering from disadvantage or from mild dementia, sharing their life stories with young people from secondary schools. The project was aimed to motivate the whole community to adopt a caring approach to its elderly residents and to improve the overall quality of their life. The adults shared their life stories written on blogs with young people. Young people have been “paired” with adults under trainer’s supervision and enabled them to gain the new skills (Internet, , blog, chat, games). Interaction between adults and youth was focused on topics (i.e. places, schools, historical diets, former jobs and health in the past and present). Adults gained IT skills, confidence and self- esteem, while the young people enriched their knowledge of the history and social changes in their community.
