Nuclear Arms Race! Origins of the Atomic Bomb Fallout Shelter’s Hydrogen Bomb ICBM!!!

Atomic Bomb’s The United States was the first country to develop the A- Bomb. They used the bomb’s on Japan to end WW2. However with advancement in technology and spies leaking through the Manhattan project Russia soon Developed a bomb of their own.

Joe 1 It was built outside of Chelyabinsk in They used 1,500 animals to test the effect’s it had on life. Once the confirmation was true that the soviet Union had Atomic Weapons the race was now to see who could build the first hydrogen bomb

The Hydrogen Bomb First tested thermonuclear bomb. Nicknamed “Operation Ivy Mike” First hydrogen bomb dropped. Had 10.4 Megaton explosive power which is 500 times more destructive than the bomb dropped on Nagasaki. Tested on Elugelab Island, Completely destroyed the island leaving an underwater crater 6,240 feet wide by 164 feet deep.

Hydrogen Bomb Cont.

What if Freeport was nuked? This is the effect that Joe 4 would have on an area as big as Freeport. In comparison Ivy was a megaton bomb compared to the 400 Kiloton of Joe 4. Which is 1/24 of the power of Ivy Mike. So you can see the pure destruction that it would have on an area such as Freeport.

Fear Anticipates! The American people become frightened to extreme measures and begin building fallout shelters. With Soviet testing of high powered nukes fear becomes a reality for many so investment’s in fallout shelters seem like a good idea to most.

Fear Reached A ad with a picture of a fallout shelter spreading fear in eyes of Americans everywhere showing that maybe they should invest in a fallout shelter before there is a Communist takeover. Everyone knew if there was to be a war that the world could quickly come to an end at this point due to a nuclear holocaust.

Here Comes the Boom! ICBM nuclear warheads completely changed expansion in the nuclear race. America was now in full control of Nuclear expansion and became the primary Nuclear Power.
