Once upon a time Duke led the way in library digitization.

The Interim Period (ca ) few digital collections produced elements of a program, but minimal planning o Metadata Analyst / Programmer o Digital Production Center o Digital Collections Council ad hoc approaches and solutions

Digital Collections Program ( ongoing) replaced DynaWeb (with in-house Tripod) still working to mainstream metadata creation meanwhile, expectations increase, desire to digitize at large scale

Metadata Tool Project: Short-term hire two programmers (done Fall 2008) metadata training for catalogers (Spring 2009) support real-time publication of digital collections and finding databases ( ongoing)

Metadata Tool Project: Big Picture integrate with (replace) digitization workflow OLE modularity? open source? shared (consortium) environment? SaaS?
