David- not where he was supposed to be… or with Godly men. 2 Sam. 11:1 The following spring, the time of year when kings go to war, David sent Joab and the Israelite army to destroy the Ammonites. In the process they laid siege to the city of Rabbah. But David stayed behind in Jerusalem. We all believe we will be the exception… Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (KJV)

David was in bed when he should have been in battle… “this king who took another man’s wife already had a harem full of women. The simple fact is that the passion of sex is not satisfied by a harem of woman; it is increased. Having many women does not reduce a man’s libido, it excites it. David, mistakenly thought, “To satisfy lust- I’ll have more women.” One of the lies of out secular society is that if you satisfy a lustful desire, then it will be abated. So- against the direct command of God- he married a few more women and privately increased his number of concubines. Well, it turned the heart of the King from the Lord. Polygamy secretly began eroding his integrity- it made him vulnerable.”- David, a man of Passion and Destiny. No Exceptions

David was amazed at Uriah’s committment to God’s Mission 2 Sam. 11: 5-6 So David sent word to Joab: "Send me Uriah the Hittite." When Uriah arrived, David asked him how Joab and the army were getting along and how the war was progressing. Then he told Uriah, "Go on home and relax." David even sent a gift to Uriah after he had left the palace. But Uriah wouldn’t go home. He stayed that night at the palace entrance with some of the king’s other servants. Uriahs was amazed at Davids’s committment to comfort

David… “whats wrong with you?” Vs. 10 When David heard what Uriah had done, he summoned him and asked, "What’s the matter with you? Why didn’t you go home last night after being away for so long?" Vs. 11 Uriah replied, "The Ark and the armies of Israel and Judah are living in tents, and Joab and his officers are camping in the open fields. How could I go home to wine and dine and sleep with my wife? I swear that I will never be guilty of acting like that." Uriah… “how could I?”

David… Lust- sin- leads to DEATH… love or manipulation? vs. 12"Well, stay here tonight," David told him, "and tomorrow you may return to the army." So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day and the next. Vs. 13 Then David invited him to dinner and got him drunk. But even then he couldn’t get Uriah to go home to his wife. Again he slept at the palace entrance. How do we end up here?

Lust leads to sin, sin to death… what does Holiness lead to? 1Pe 1:15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God—who chose you to be his children—is holy. (RIGHT PLACES, RIGHT PEOPLE, RIGHT TIME)? 2 Pet. 3:17+18 I am warning you ahead of time, dear friends, so that you can watch out and not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people. I don’t want you to lose your own secure footing. (WRONG PLACE, PEOPLE, TIME?) But grow in the special favor and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be all glory and honor, both now and forevermore. Amen.

Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done.
