The Triangle Slave Trade

The Triangular Trade European ships laden with goods such as copper, cloth, guns, and ammunition embark for Africa. European goods are sold or traded for slaves. Middle Passage TT Slaves are taken across the Atlantic to the West Indies. After the slaves are sold the ship is cleaned and loaded with goods such as sugar, rum, and molasses to be sold in European markets. The triangle trade linked Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Slaves, sugar, and rum were traded. SOL

Gold and Silver were exported to Europe and Asia. SOL

African tribes people are captured near their villages by rival tribes and kidnappers. The Middle Passage Slaves are brought to European coastal forts to be sold to slave traders. During the middle passage African slaves were stacked on top of one another to maximize profit. It is estimated that 10% of captive Africans died sailing across the Atlantic.

Olaudah Equiano o Olaudah Equiano was an African native who was stolen from his homeland and forced into slavery under the British. o AS the servant of a naval officer Equiano traveled the seas participating in battles. o As his masters favorite slave Equiano was sent to England to learn to read and write. o Due to his knowledge of navigation and education he was sold to a Pennsylvania merchant. Equiano eventually bought his freedom and went on to join the British abolition movement as a writer and speaker.
