THE FISHING LINE On that first Easter, Jesus changed everything through his death and resurrection. God’s long-awaited promise was fulfilled. Jesus was victorious over death and the devil. What wondrous love this is! Because of God’s love, we can rejoice in the hope of the resurrection. Sin, death and the devil have no power over us. God’s great love fills our hearts to overflowing! He helps us share that love with others. Monday, April 22, is Earth Day. What a wonderful opportunity to focus on teaching children about caring for our world! As a staff, we are very familiar with Earth Day and the concept of saving our planet for future generations. However, this may be the first time your child has heard of Earth Day and what it means. They are not too young to participate in this worldwide endeavor! As Christians, it is natural to talk about God’s creation and how He gave Adam and Eve the task of caring for the world that He made. As human beings created by God, we, too, have that responsibility. We all can work together to keep our world clean and beautiful for families and wildlife now and in the future. This is an important value that we can instill in our students and that will have lasting impact throughout their lives. We will be teaching about Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle the week of April 22. Each class will have their own recycling box outside their classrooms. We will have a “Recycle Contest”. We will collect all week long and the class that collects the most bags of recycling will win a Popcorn Party! Please share with your children how as a family, you can take care of the Earth. Keep reading to find out what else is “on the line”… The 2 nd Annual Spring Fling Carnival we hosted on March 3 rd blew in with big SUCCESS! A huge THANK YOU to Rachelle Dillett, our Event Chairperson, for all her hard work organizing this event. In addition to her efforts, I want to thank Sara Jackson, Public Relations Chair; Megan Moddelmog and Sara Rios, Bake Sale Chairs; Jamakia Roland and Laura Najera, Raffle Committee; Kristen Belbin, Finance Chair; Judie Brielmaier and Lisa Thome, Game/Booth Chairs; Jacky Lin and Lynn Tang, Volunteer Coordinators; LFP Teachers for organizing sign-ups for their class games and assisting Room Parents with the class baskets; Joan Fuchs, Silent Auction Chair; Parents that assisted with the sponsorships for our Carnival T-shirts. Additional thanks to the Boy Scouts and the Fishers of Men Youth that assisted us the day of the event with booth duty, trash duty, etc; Florence Tang for her graphic design with our Carnival logo; our Lady Fishers who baked cupcakes; everyone who baked goodies for the Bake Sale; LFP School Board members who worked the day of the event; Yohan Adhitama, photographer for the day of the event; and last but not least, my assistant, Kelly DeLozier who assisted me in any way possible. Thank you so, so much! I apologize if I left anyone out. We raised a net profit of $11,000! Thank you, God, for each and every person that made this day so AMAZING!
