2 1.1 Which of the following approaches best describes the methodology adopted to inward FATS population? The FATS statistics are based on Statistics Norway's structure statistics – whole business economy In order to define which companies are controlled from abroad we use: Tax Holder Register SIFON register of foreign assets and liabilities in Norway Public available sources (annual reports, mass media) We have used the SBS

3 1.2 Please provide information regarding the methods used (e.g. the sampling frame, sample design, statistical registers used, linking of different sources etc.). We have used the SBS survey for identifying the Whole Business Economy and data for the various variables (characteristics) to be delivered. The Tax Holder Register and SIFON is used to identify the foreign controlled enterprises. All new information regarding the possible foreign control is cross-checked from different sources. Linking of different sources is based on the use of Business Identity Codes. An individual code is given to all enterprises in Norway
