Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership Energy Business Group

Energy Group Purpose Providing the CWLEP Board and its partner organisations advice and access to specialist expertise, best practice and investment opportunities in sustainable energy generation and supply, low carbon infrastructure and the development and integration of innovative low carbon technologies. Specific support is provided by the Energy Group to assist the CWLEP in:  Attracting inward investment to create jobs and growth  Delivering apprenticeships and skills  Reducing business operating costs through energy efficiency & sustainable practices  Enabling the local supply chain to deliver green growth  Supporting green innovation and new business development  Influencing regulatory change to support the CWLEP Energy Group priorities  Regional collaboration with LEPs to maximise investment opportunities Key Sectors  Energy generation including renewables and district heating  Smart grid and energy infrastructure  Energy reduction and efficiency in commercial and residential buildings  Low energy commercial and residential new build properties

Successes ,500 + homes refurbished in Coventry, Nuneaton and Rugby £14 million inward investment (E.ON, British Gas, Npower) £1 million DECC funding secured by Local Authorities 420 construction jobs delivered Local supply chain developed and supported by RETA GVA uplift circa £1 million (each home approx. £300 better off) Heatline district heating programme £5.3 million public/private sector investment Delivering low carbon heat to Coventry City Centre Electric Vehicles On street and rapid EV charging points delivered by E.ON Electric bus service in Coventry operated by Travel De Courcey Successful innovative EV4GP project demonstrating commercial case for Electric Vehicles with local GPs Skills, Apprenticeships, Learning and Research Low Impact Building Centre and £5.2m Sustainable Building Futures business support project established at Coventry University 150 training places and 15 apprenticeships delivered by E.ON Coventry top of English cities league table for reducing carbon footprint for third year running – down by one quarter since
