8/2001Otto Boucky Carl Zeiss IMT O ptical Sensor Interface Standard

8/2001Otto Boucky Carl Zeiss IMT OSIS is an Industry initiative with the aspiration to promote development and usage of optical metrology in combination with 3 Co-Ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).

8/2001Otto Boucky Carl Zeiss IMT Complexity and high integration costs are the foremost reasons that prevented large scale usage of optical sensors in combination with CMM‘s. The abundance of available sensors and absence of applicable standards for integrating those into CMM Systems caused financial and technical risks for both Suppliers and their Customers.

8/2001Otto Boucky Carl Zeiss IMT For that, the OSIS initative was founded for the benefit of the industry with the following objective: To create a binding Standard for Mechanical and Electrical Interface Data Interface (Software Integration) Accuracy Specification and Verfication for integration of optical sensors into CMM.

8/2001Otto Boucky Carl Zeiss IMT Each Objective has been assigned to a workgroup with participants of the industry and Institutes. The Workgroups are organized and hosted by DEA, Renishaw and Zeiss and have held 6 meetings so far. The results are compiled and distributed by the NBT, Switzerland.
