Ambassadors Guide 2014

Our Mission and Values What is an Ambassador Your Duties Mentor Recruiting Training Events and Fundraising Ambassador Reports Ambassador Meeting Table of Contents

Our Values “Advancing Africa’s transformation through global skill transfers and educational mentorship.” At the core of our mission is the advancement of Africa through its youth. With 70% of the African population below the age of 30 Africa's youth are the foremost social capitals that require priority investment. We invest in them through the transfer of skills and mentorship to get to college. Our values were refined from over 50 values we found to be important, demonstrating how we truly believe in them. It is our expectation that as an ambassador you embrace them fully as they set the tone of our commitment towards our students. Our Mission

What is an EA Ambassador Emergination Africa (EA) ambassadors are dependable leaders and brand ambassadors that connect our network of high school students to administration, faculty and mentors on their college campuses. Ambassadors promote, recruit and organize events for EA mentors on their college campuses.

Duties Mentor Recruiting Promoting the Emergination Africa brand Mentor training Keeping track of mentors interactions with mentees Organizing events Reporting to EA Board members Attending Ambassador meetings held on weekends

Mentor Recruiting Mentor Recruiting is required at least once a year Mentors must be sophomores or above They must be leaders studying engineering, business or pre-med academic disciplines All mentors must complete mentor training

Training Training must be in person or online depending on the ambassador’s opinion. Training Topics (brief outline) – Hours of mentoring – Mentoring platform (skype, whatsapp) – Time zone – Curriculum – Important events and dates – Survey requirements

Monitoring mentors Mentors should complete inventory of the mentors periodically and report information to the EA board – Mentor concerns – Maintain updated contact information – Maintain survey results (given by EA board)

Events and Fundraising As an ambassador it is your duty to keep mentors energized and involved in EA. This can be accomplished by holding on campus events, and fundraising. There may be money in the budget to help with some events; however, this is not guaranteed. Thus, it is your responsibility to fundraise money for any event. Before having an event you should complete an event proposal and submit it to Samantha Kelly for authorization.

Ambassador Reports Ambassadors are required to submit a monthly report to Samantha Kelly. Reports should be completed fully and in a timely manner. Please write something in the comment area. It will allow us to assist you better and make changes.

Once a month we will have ambassador meetings to analyze your progress and success. Meetings will be held on google chat or Ustream. All ambassadors from all universities will be present Discussions will be held on how you can improve. You will be able to learn a great deal form other ambassadors as they talk about their failures and successes. Ambassador Meetings
