Child Support Case Description An order establishing paternity and Support is obtained in 2008 for per month in current support The customer becomes incarcerated in 2009 The customer does not request a modification while incarcerated The customer is released to County Probation under AB109 Upon release customer becomes aware of the following: An order for support of $ per month Arrears balance over $18, Suspended License A bank levy on a newly opened account AB109 Case Scenario
AB109 Case Scenario (cont) Cooperation Post Release Upon contact with the Child Support Department The current support of $ can be modified to an amount based on the current facts in the case and possibly to $0.00 while the customer looks for employment A reasonable payment can be set on the arrears balance while the customer looks for employment The customer’s license can be released and the hold suppressed for a minimum of 3 months while the customer looks for employment The levy on the customer’s Bank account can be withdrawn and future levies can be suppressed for a minimum of 3 months while the customer looks for employment
