Objectives of Transport Development MANILA, THE PHILIPPINES th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting April 2009 By 2020, it is estimated that railway network will be over 120,000 km, with the electrified rate over 60% and rate of double lines over 50%. The length of passenger dedicated railways will be over 16,000 km.

It is hoped that construction of 20,000 km more new railways will be approved in 2009 and 2010.

The estimated investment will reach 850 billion RMB.

Measures to Address Financial Crisis MANILA, THE PHILIPPINES th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting April 2009 In 2009, the airport construction, especially the construction and capacity enlargement of trunk line airports in Chinese western part as well as the branch line airports in the middle part of China, will be the focus of aviation investment, which is about 100 billion RMB.

Song as China and all APEC economies hold strong confidence, strengthen cooperation and fulfill our commitment, we will overcome the current difficulties and transform this crisis to an opportunity for cooperation and joint development, since this crisis has brought more investment in transport infrastructure of APEC region. Chinese Government has just declared the establishment of 10 billion USD ASEAN-China Investment Cooperation Fund to support the regional infrastructure construction. Furthermore, to promote the integration of ASEAN and regional cooperation, within the coming 3 to 5 years, China will provide ASEAN countries with 15 billion USD credit, including 1.7 billion USD favourable credit.
