What is a copyright? Protection for the creator from others copying, altering, performing, and selling their work without permission.

What can happen if I break copyright law? You could be fined for actual damages plus any profit you made and statutory damages from $200-$1000,000.

Breaking the law???

What is the “No Electronic Theft Act”? Law created to prosecute those that provide copyrighted material for others to copy. Mainly applies to software, music, movies, etc. available for illegal download from the Internet.

What is plagiarism? Plagiarism occurs when you copy someone else’s words into an assignment pretending that they are your own. If you use someone else’s words or ideas, you must give them credit.
