Goal To impart the goals, objectives, and standards of the Academy and likewise empower the adjunct instructor cadre with the ethical code of conduct and the implementation of ethics and values in all Academy subject matter.

PROBLEMS SOLUTIONS EMPOWERMENT

Students PROBLEM: RECRUIT ARRESTED FOR DRUG SALES Needed gas and lunch money to go to the academy

Students PROBLEM: NEW DEPUTY ARRESTED FOR PURCHASING DRUGS IN PATROL CAR Claims to have been set up

Students PROBLEM: RECRUIT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON recruits response to having been flipped the “bird”

Students PROBLEM: RECRUIT DISMISSED AND FIRED FOR THEFT stole a “POLICE” gym bag at the range – later attempted to regain entry into the academy

Students PROBLEM: RECRUIT DISMISSED FOR CHEATING ON EXAM he was looking at the other person test but he wasn’t using their answers

Students PROBLEM: RAMPANT SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AMONG RECRUITS the staff is able to keep their domestic disturbance skills sharp due to recruit / spouse confrontations

Instructors PROBLEM: INTENTIONAL UNDERMINING OF THE ACADEMY forget what their telling you, this is how you really do it

Instructors PROBLEM: ENCOURAGE RACIAL PROFILING you see a Mexican, pull him over

Instructors PROBLEM: AGENCY REPRESENTATIVES ORDERING RECRUITS TO NOT COMPLY WITH THE ACADEMY CHAIN OF COMMAND if you go to the staff without notifying us first, you’ll be in trouble.

Instructors PROBLEM: DEVIATING FROM THE LESSON PLAN this is how I like to do it

Instructors PROBLEM: OPENLY CRITICIZING THE TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES this is stupid, why are they doing it this way

Instructors PROBLEM: FRATERNIZING WITH THE STUDENTS ON AND OFF DUTY we were hanging out at the pool after the range - they had some questions

SOLUTIONS Convey a sincere interest in others Provide ethical challenges and ethical responsibilities for recruits Assist in the recruits professional development Motivate the Ethical Growth of recruits
