WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform
any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
In order for us to put the “what” of revival into action, we need to be motivated by the “why.”
Romans 11:33-36 “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord?’
‘Or who has been his counselor?’ ‘Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?’ For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever!”
‘Or who has been his counselor?’ ‘Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?’ For FROM him and THROUGH him and TO him are all things. To Him be the glory forever!”
The beginning of a life change is to really believe that these words are true about God.
‘Or who has been his counselor?’ ‘Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?’ For FROM him and THROUGH him and TO him are all things. To Him be the glory forever!”
When you really believe them the motivation and the wisdom to live your life for Christ will be present.
The first thing that will make sense is for us to present our bodies to Him for salvation.
Then Paul tells us two other things that in light of these eternal truths that are the only rational things for believers to do for the rest of their lives:
1) Refuse to be conformed to the thoughts of the world.
“What will this do for me?”
“Will this make me happy?”
“Does this meet my needs?”
A self-centered life is a wrecked life that wrecks others’ lives too.
2) Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
“Is this something that will stand the test of eternity?”
“Is this something that will please God ?”
“Will this be there when I leave this world?”
A transformed mind produces a transformed will by which we become eager and able, with the Spirit’s help, to lay aside our own plans and to trustingly accept God’s plans, no matter what the cost.
“The key to spiritual victory is when you quit trying to get all you can from God and start giving all that we are and have to Him.” (John MacArthur)
