Steve Petch Sunday 18 th October 2009 Part 3: ‘He Reigns Supreme’ Revelation 4:1 – 5:14

“Future Revealed to Guy on Tiny Mediterranean Island!” This is the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to him to tell his servants what will take place very soon.

He made it known by sending an angel to his servant John.

And John testifies to everything that was revealed. Blessed is he who reads this prophecy aloud and obeys what is written in it, for the time is near!

I, John, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony about Jesus.

It was on the Lord's day and I was in the spirit when behind me I heard a loud voice like a trumpet saying, “Write in a book what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”

I turned to see who was speaking to me, and I saw seven golden lamp stands, and in their midst was one like a son of man, and his face shone like the sun at full force.

His head and hair were white as snow. His eyes were like blazing fire. Out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. He was dressed in a long robe with a golden belt. His feet were like burnished bronze and in his right hand were held seven stars.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he placed his hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid. I was dead and look, I am alive. And I have the keys of Death and Hades.”

Now write down all that you have seen, the things happening now, and what will happen after these things.

Write the following to the envoy of the church in Pergamum: I know you live where Satan has his throne, yet you hold fast and have not renounced your faith in me.

I will strike her children dead so that all the churches will know that I repay each of you as your deeds deserve.
