1.Matter anything that takes up space. 2.A liquid has a definite volume, but no definite shape. 3.A gas does not have a volume or a definite shape. 4.A solid has both a definite volume and a definite shape.

5.Water can change from water to ice, which is called freezing. 6.Freezing is what happens when a liquid changes to a solid. 7.Water can change from ice to water, which is called melting.

8.Melting is what happens when a solid changes to a liquid. 9.Water can change from water to steam, which is called evaporation. 10.Evaporation is what happens when a liquid changes to a gas.

11. Water can change from steam back to water, which is called condensation. 12.Condensation occurs when gas changes into a liquid. 13. The color, size, and hardness of an object can help us determine its physical properties.
