What of Acts 2:38? What is“the gift of the Holy Spirit?” Best rule of thumb is to let the scriptures speak for themselves. Notice Acts 2:39. Miracles? The indwelling? The Spirit Himself? Gift from the Spirit? And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38 ESV)

The Spirit is NOT a “pledge” because He is given personally to each one The Spirit IS a pledge because He was given, i.e., sent…. to give us power to overcome sin to assure us of life to come with proof

What of Eph.1:13-14; 2 Cor.1:22? What of the Spirit given as a “seal?” W.E.Vine- an emblem of ownership, authenticity, security, & destination Thayer- metaphorically, respecting God, who by the Holy Spirit indicates who are His.

What of Eph.1:13-14; 2 Cor.1:22? What of the Spirit given as a “seal?” A mark, impression, stamp of authenticity, ownership, or identity A figurative expression of God’s approval and ownership…. It is manifested by His mark…. i.e. god-likeness

The Holy Spirit Has Been Given… To give eternal life by revelation and instruction To ‘indwell’ our hearts, minds, & lives As a ‘pledge’ that what is promised will be paid in full As a ‘seal’ to put God’s mark in our hearts and lives. Acts 20:32
