Requirements 1/3 of congregation take the household energy reduction pledge and document achievement of pledge. Reduce church energy use by 25% from baseline year. Raise funds – Apprx $35-$40,000 to install the Solar panels; $24,000 of which will be refunded by IHPL upon final installation.

Requirements Promoting and hosting a Solar Leadership Party and Forum upon installation of solar panels. Invite news media and local elected officials (mayor, city council, county commissioners and state legislators). Upon making good progress with its energy conservation goals, no later than 24 months after the start of the grant period, providing H-IPL with a one-to-three page case study of the steps it has taken to reduce its own and its members’ energy use. Working with its denominational body as possible and with technical content supplied by H-IPL, organizing a congregational energy use workshop for congregations of its denomination or faith tradition. Contacting at least 25 congregations or as many as exist in Indiana, whichever is less, of its own faith tradition to personally invite them to participate in the above workshop. Publicizing its activities related to the grant through its own website and newsletter and placing a sign in the front of the congregation’s building indicating that it is using solar energy. For the duration of the grant, having one of its members serve on H-IPL’s IMP grant compliance group – a group that will meet periodically to discuss progress.

Creation Care Pledges

Creation Care Pledge Our faith calls us to care for creation both for the world’s well-being and our own. We are connected in a great web of life that links together the love of God and neighbor with that of God’s while creation. I wish to join a movement of those dedicated to prudently using the gifts we have been given by reducing household energy usage by at least 14% or less than ½ that of an average Hoosier household that is the size of my household. I understand that I do not act alone but in concert with this community, as well as with many other faith communities, as together we respond to this great challenge of our time.

Creation Care Pledge Achievement 11 reported so far Sample Survey - use this to see where you stand as it relates to the pledge; you might be surprised to learn you have already met the savings guidelines! - kJPrlfkF. kJPrlfkF When you are ready to take the 'real' survey to show that you have met the pledge use this link: OX7oGRD4B35q/ - and then report your result from the survey to our Beacon Heights Stewards team.
