First Baptist Church, Kenedy Glorifying God … Reaching People … Making Disciples

The Basics of the Christian Life 1. It all begins with RELATIONSHIP.

Relationship … It all begins with Jesus. It is impossible to experience the Christian life without a relationship with Christ.

The Basics of the Christian Life 1. It all begins with RELATIONSHIP. 2. We build upon relationship with WORSHIP.

Worship … … our response to what we value most. … is not limited to a box or an hour. … through worship we hear from God and follow Him.

The Basics of the Christian Life 1. It all begins with RELATIONSHIP. 2. We build upon relationship with WORSHIP. 3. We build upon worship with BIBLE STUDY.

Bible Study … “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:12-13

Bible Study … “All Scripture is God breathed (inspired by God) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man (woman, child) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Bible Study … “Do your best, (be diligent, study) to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles (rightly divides, rightly explains) the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

Bible Study … “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8

Bible Study … 2 Chronicles 34 King Josiah

King Josiah … becomes king at the age of 8 he does what is right in the eyes of the Lord follows after his father David at the age of 16 he decides to follow after God at the age of 20 he decides to purge Judah of idols at the age of 28 he decides to repair the temple of the Lord

King Josiah … while repairing the temple: they find the Book of the Law they take the Book of the Law to the king King Josiah upon hearing it, humbles himself before it Josiah reads the Book of the Law all of it, before all the people King Josiah renews the covenant between the king and God the people pledge themselves to the covenant

Basics of the Christian Life 1. The desire to worship leads to finding the words of God. 2. The words of God lead to the king and the people renewing their commitment to the covenant. 3. Renewing their commitment leads to the remembrance again of the Passover. 4. The Passover is used to remember God’s faithfulness. 5. Jesus will use the Passover to speak of God’s hope and promise.

To God be the glory for all He has done, is doing, and has yet to do!
