Prefects 2007 St. Gregory’s College

How do we chose our Prefects?  We ask students who are interested in being one of our prefects.  We present the candidates to the rest of the students.  They vote for a girl and a boy from their own house.  Once the children have voted, all the teachers and members of the staff that have contact and work with them, vote.  Heads and teachers get to an agreement about the finalists.

“What is a Prefect?” A prefect is a student monitor who gives his teachers and his heads a hand in the organization of different chores at school.

FLEMINGHOUSEFLEMINGHOUSE

What is a prefect supposed to do? Speak English to teachers and amongst themselves. Have a good appearance. Be responsible Represent the school with pride Be a positive member of the group. Have school spirit. Have good communication and help younger children.. Help during assemblies. (lining up) Go round classrooms once a month to collect house points. Be present at assembly and hand out HP to the student of the week winners. Build up a board to put their names down, write why they won it. Assist teachers or other members of staff during General Knowledge, sports,concerts and other activities. Mediate when they spot a problem at break-time and inform the teacher on duty.
