HADITH

HADITH Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The best supplication for seeking forgiveness (Syed-ul- Istighfar) is to say: ` اللهمَّ أنت ربِّي... إلاَّ أنت ( He who supplicates in these terms during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day (before the evening), he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah; and if anyone supplicates in these terms during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah.'' [Al-Bukhari].

Sayyidul Istighfar The top prayer for asking forgiveness اَللّهُمَّأَنْتَرَ بِّيلاَ إِلـٰـهَإِلاَّ أَنْتَ O Allah! You (are) my Lord (There) is no god except You

خَلَقْتَنِيوَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ You created me and I am Your slave Sayyidul Istighfar

مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ وَوَعْدِكَ عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَأَنَا to the best of my capability and the promise I have given to You faithful to the pledge (of devotion) and I (am) Sayyidul Istighfar

صَنَعْتُمَا مِنْ شَرِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ I did (of my sins) that which against the evil (consequences) of I seek refuge in You Sayyidul Istighfar

أَبُوءُلَكَبِنِعْمَتِكَعَلَيَّ I acknowledge to You all Your bounties on me Sayyidul Istighfar

فَاغْفِرْ لِي بِذَنْبِيوَأَبُوءُ Hence, forgive me (my sins) my sins and I confess Sayyidul Istighfar

فَإِنَّه ، لاَ يَغْفِرُالذُّنُوبَإِلاَّ أَنْتَ Thus, indeed none (can) forgive the sins except You Sayyidul Istighfar

Part I: Glorifying Allah and stating my position (humbly) اَللّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لاَ إِلـٰـهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ

Part II: Stating my commitment وَأَنَا عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ

أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي Sayyidul Istighfar Part III: Seeking Allah’s protection; and accepting Allah’s favors (inspite of my sins)

فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّه ، لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ Sayyidul Istighfar Part IV: Asking forgiveness and stating Allah’s kindness (that He forgives)

21 تَجِدُ وَجَدَتْ يَجِدُ يَجِدُونَ وَجَدَ وَجَدُوا لاَ تَجِدْ لاَ تَجِدُوا جِدْ جِدُواتَجِدُ تَجِدُونَ وَجَدْتَوَجَدْتُمْ أَجِدُ نَجِدُ وَجَدْتُ وَجَدْنَا 107 * وَاجِد، مَوْجُود وُجُود وُجُود He found When practicing in Arabic, say it as if you are talking to Arabs 90% of 1719 forms are the ones we are practicing here. c ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ

Today’s Class

We have learnt the following 4 Styles of فَعَلَ d. سَمِعَ، يَسْمَعُ b. نَصَر، يَنْصُرُ c. ضَرَبَ، يَضْرِبُ... a. فَتَحَ، يَفْتَحُ

Most of the Arabic Verbs are made of 3 root letters, such as: ف ت ح ن ص ر ض ر ب س م ع Let us Take Special Cases!

و as in وَعَدَ، وَلَدَ or ی as in رضي، هَدَى or ا as in قال، كان then… weak words are formed If one of these 3 letters is:

و ي ا Weak Letters Weak or ‘sick’ letters (حروف علت ). Why ‘sick’ (عِلَة)? Because the sounds of these 3 letters are that of a sick person!! (ooo!, aaa!, eee!). They are weak because they get ‘tired’. Beauty is that they work in a team! They keep replacing each other!!!

و ي ا The 3 letters replace each other!!! “Team Work” قَالَ يَقُولُ قُل قِيلَ He said He says Say!It is said

31 Rewards for the one who recites Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.'' [At-Tirmidhi].

32 Let us ponder this Hadith  For each letter, 10 rewards  You can conveniently read 5 letters per second. Therefore, the one who recites receives 50 rewards per sec. It is a shower of rewards from Allah.  Of course, we should try to fulfill the basic purpose of recitation, i.e., Tadabbur & Tazakkur.
