When you want to say that an action is happening at this very moment, use the present progressive

 The Present Progressive has TWO components: A conjugation of estar and a present participle  The first part PRESENT refers to the present tense conjunction ESTAR  Present progressive uses estar since it describes a “state” that you are in  The second part PROGRESSIVE refers to the PARTICIPLE

ESTOYESTAMOS ESTÁSESTÁN ESTÁ

 The participle is the "-ing" form of a verb  Ex: running, playing, ect.  Form the participle by dropping the -ar, -er, or -ir from the infinitive of a verb and adding one of two endings, -ando or –iendo.  To –ar verbs add –ando and to –er and –ir verbs add -iendo

 Hablar (to talk)  Hablar-ar-=habl  Habl+ando=hablando (talking)

 Comer (to eat)  Comer-er=com  Com+iendo=comiendo (eating)

 Escribir (to write)  Escribir-ir=escrib  Escrib+iendo=escribiendo (writing)

 When the stem of an –er or –ir verb ends in a vowel, change the –iendo to -yendo EX: LeerLeyendo OirOyendo CreerCreyendo
