Facilitating a culture of data sharing between LSP partners

Council aims to improve from 2 star to 4 star by 2012 Local Strategic Partnership to demonstrate improvements against shared priorities Current Situation

Problems – Culture Current Culture of Plymouth City Council and Partners is of “Data Silos” Encourages protective behaviour over key data in different departments Existing Data Sharing is good but based on goodwill Decision Making is challenging as a result

Problems – Data Rich, Information Poor Considerable data is held by the council and its partners on service delivery Limited analytical techniques used to extract intelligence from the data Over reliance on individuals in specialist areas Officers’ time becomes consumed by analysis Data analysis not driving the council and the LSP Forward effectively

Problems – Data Dissemination Plymouth Informed is the desired corporate method of data dissemination Our Local Information System Web-based GIS technology Heavily underutilised by partners and the public In need of development in order to meet customer requirements

Role of the University Supports the academic work of the Associate Provides support and expertise in developing some of the projects outputs
