Presentation transcript:

24 April 2007G. Rakness (UCLA) 1 Power cuts at Green Barracks/SX5 False fire alarms from the central fire alarm system (incendie central) cut power to SX5 and the green barracks 6 times between Thursday 12 April and Wednesday 18 April Suspected cause is voltage drop on 24V line on relay at DSS distribution box On Monday 16 April, verbal communication led us to believe: until cause of fire alarms has been determined and repaired, power cuts as a result of false alarms will be short-circuited Another fire alarm + power cut occurred on 17 April: caused problem with RAID setup on emuslice02 (emuserver)—off the air April 24: emuserver back up, currently recovering… twiki page written with instructions on how to bring up minus-side slice test from power OFF: needs 1 person at green barracks + V. Sytnik for DCS

24 April 2007G. Rakness (UCLA) 2 TMB match trigger configuration 1.CLCT and ALCT trigger independently 2.Send LCT on ALCT*CLCT match Window opens (CLCT pattern trigger) ~1bx after ALCT arrives ALCT-CLCT scatter ~5bx… (Recall: half-strip/di-strip/pattern = 4/4/1) ALCT delay for max matching efficiency depends on window size Plans: 1.Open match_trigger_window_size to 7  data edges should be within window 2.Measure match_trig_alct_delay to maximize matching efficiency  should reflect: ALCT/CLCT cable lengths, ALCT/CLCT trigger configurations 3.Compensate match_trig_alct_delay with mpc_tx_delay to preserve simultaneous arrival at MPC… + several extra changes to make L1A arrive at CFEB in time… match_trig_alct_delay 0 : 0 match_trig_alct_delay 1 : 22 match_trig_alct_delay 2 : 211 match_trig_alct_delay 3 : 273 match_trig_alct_delay 4 : 256 match_trig_alct_delay 5 : 99 match_trig_alct_delay 6 : 13 match_trig_alct_delay 7 : 6 match_trig_alct_delay 8 : 0 match_trig_alct_delay 9 : 0 Match window size = 3 match_trig_alct_delay 0 : 0 match_trig_alct_delay 1 : 25 match_trig_alct_delay 2 : 181 match_trig_alct_delay 3 : 294 match_trig_alct_delay 4 : 293 match_trig_alct_delay 5 : 283 match_trig_alct_delay 6 : 109 match_trig_alct_delay 7 : 11 match_trig_alct_delay 8 : 1 match_trig_alct_delay 9 : 0 Match window size = 4

24 April 2007G. Rakness (UCLA) 3 ME-2/2/20 only: TMB counters (scaled to ALCT) New TMB configuration: 1.CLCT and ALCT trigger independently 2.look for an ALCT*CLCT match Trigger rate at LTC = 55 Hz ALCT: LCT sent to TMB ALCT: L1A readout CLCT: Pretrigger CLCT: Pretrig but no wbuf available 0 0 CLCT: Invalid pattern after drift CLCT: TMB matching rejected event TMB: CLCT,ALCT,or both trigger TMB: xmit MPC TMB: CLCT and ALCT match TMB: CLCT-only trigger 0 0 TMB: MPC accepted LCT TMB: MPC accepted LCT L1A: L1A received L1A: TMB triggered, TMB in L1A window L1A: L1A received, no TMB in window 0 0 L1A: TMB triggered, no L1A received  TMB matching rejects events TMB matches less often  matching window too small? { MPC accepts trigger ~10% more often… With new configuration… In addition, new configuration is 3bx faster than MTCC configuration… Will take data with this new configuration soon…. MTCC configuration: 1.CLCT waits for ALCT “valid pattern flag” 2.look for an ALCT*CLCT match Trigger rate at LTC = 50 Hz

24 April 2007G. Rakness (UCLA) 4 Other stuff… Have been working with Grayson Williams (OSU)—he can run slice test (with some help…) updated CMS software with added TMB and ALCT configuration DMB has deprecated at least 1 configurable parameter needs to propagate to CMS software CMSSW status: to unpack minus-side slice test, need 1_4_0_preX with 1_4_0_preX, there are CSCdigis, CSCRecHits, CSCSegments in logfile  bugs found and fixed in unpacker, digis, new geometry (with Jordan’s fixes…) neither CSCRecHits nor CSCSegments in ROOT file, because of old buggy version of ROOT old ROOT in pre3, mistakenly included into pre4_rc13… currently building pre4 (again) with new “fixed” ROOT… Seung has successfully run with latest version of CMSSW!

24 April 2007G. Rakness (UCLA) 5 In addition… At L1 trigger meeting today, Jan Troska (CERN) pointed to work on documenting TTC commands: Fibers are about to be terminated on YE+1—need advice on how to terminate with minimum length for MPC  SP fibers… (F. Borcherding, A. Lanaro, F. Geurts) DT fibers were terminated ~2 bx too long—could have ramifications if TMB firmware gets too fast… trigger group would like to know estimate of how much TMB will gain back…
