Steps to Placing Tags with Spaces Open Documentation Tool Catalog – Imperial > Schedule Tags > Room & Finish Tags. Press ESC to end the command.

Accessing Trim (MassElementTrim) Command prompt: MassElementTrim Select a mass element and choose Trim by Plane from the Modify panel The command (MassElementTrim) creates a trim plane that cuts across the element. You can then select which side of the trim plane to retain.

Note: The face at p3 was stretched after the split.

Creating Groups for Mass Elements Complex models are created by defining a group and attaching elements to the group. The Mass Group tool inserts a group marker, the group marker represents the group. Mass elements are attached to the group after the group marker is established.

Accessing Mass Group Attach Command Select any member of a mass group to display the mass group marker shown at right, right- click and choose Attach Elements. Respond to the workspace prompts to select additional mass elements.

Creating Mass Groups from the Mass Group Tab

Boolean Operations with Mass Elements Mass Elements that are attached to a group can be defined to add, subtract, or intersect their mass with the other elements. If a mass group exists in the drawing, the mass group and operation can be specified in the Properties palette when new elements are added. After a mass element becomes a member of a group all elements of the group and the group marker are displayed. To isolate and edit a mass element that belongs to a group select the Edit in Place grip. The Edit in Place toggle turns off the display of the group and allows you to edit mass elements.

Creating Floor Plate Slices of Mass Elements After you develop a mass model of a building, you can create a floor plan from the model The Slice command (AecSliceCreate), located on the Massing tool palette, allows you to slice through the model at elevations equivalent to floor elevations. The AecSliceToPline command, accessed from the shortcut menu of the slice, can convert the slice to a polyline. The polyline can be converted to walls (right click a wall tool >Apply Tool Properties to>Linework).

Attaching Objects to a Slice The Attach Objects command (AecSliceAttach) is used to assign the objects to be sliced. Select a slice marker, right-click and choose Attach Objects

Accessing Convert to Polyline To convert the results of the slice to polyline Select a slice, right-click and choose Convert to Polyline The Convert to Polyline will convert a slice to a polyline. The polyline can then be used to create a wall.
