Revenue Issues MDOT’s FY Five Year Transportation Program laid out a challenging revenue picture MDOT will begin development of the Five Year Program in September First step in the process is to develop revenue estimates Revenue picture is NOT better The Highway Program will provide “full” and “reduced” options for their 5-year plan

Reduced Passenger Transportation Program Passenger transportation already reduced Capital match is $12 million lower than in 2000 Operating assistance is over 10% less than in 2000 The regional program has no funding Intercity terminals reduced from $1M to $150,000 Shortfall of state revenues Based on average annual need of the 5-year program local transit has a $234 million shortfall and passenger rail has a $7.5 million shortfall Short Term Fixes Adjustments made annually Toll Revenue Credits Extending Bond Revenue Drawdown A full passenger program, i.e., preservation of the existing system and any expansion, dependent on additional revenues

Reduced Passenger Transportation Program Impacts Need better data on system conditions and the ability to project future system conditions
