EXODUS 17: 8-13

The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands."

So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.

When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up - one on one side, one on the other - so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Exodus 17: 8-13

I. A Mentor

Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

Do I Want To Be Like This Person? The Key Question When Choosing A Mentor Is… Do I Want To Be Like This Person?

As a mentee…  Decide specifically what you want to learn from your mentor.  Accept your role as a learner.

How To Get The Most From A Mentoring Relationship  Put what you learn into effect immediately.  Prove to your mentor that you are making progress.  Learn to ask questions about how they did what they did.  Show gratitude to your mentor.

II. An Encourager

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

Encouragement Statements:  One tends to become what he/she is encouraged to become.  Encouragement is a great motivator.  My best friend is the person who brings out the best in me.

III. A Confronter

Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses. Proverbs 27: 5-6

3 Important Elements Of Confrontation TTears – Does this confronter genuinely want to help me, or is he/she trying to hurt me with his/her words? TTiming – A loving confronter will never intentionally embarrass you in front of others. TTrust – Do I really trust this person with my heart?

IV. An Intercessor

as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. II Timothy 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. II Timothy 1:3

Intercessors Are…  Bold  Bold for the Lord  Bridges  Bridges between God and the person for whom they pray  Bonded  Bonded to those for whom they pray.

V. A Partner

“I need you. I can’t do _____ alone.” Partnership says, “I need you. I can’t do _____ alone.” A partner helps you lift your load.

A Partner Will…  Compound  Compound my efforts  Complement  Complement my life.
