Welcome to ALI 148: Uniqueness of the Holy Prophet (s) according to the Quran Session One Please have a copy of the Holy Quran with translation with you

Agenda Qualities of the Holy Prophet (s)  Qualities as proofs of his Prophethood. al-A’raaf, verse 157  Reminding the Muslims about his great qualities. al-Fath, verses 8-9  Description of his roles. al-Ahzab, verses 45-46

Al-A’raaf verse 157 Those who follow the Prophet, the Ummi whom they find written down with them in the Taurat and the Injeel who enjoins them good and forbids them from evil makes lawful to them the good and makes unlawful to them the impure and removes from them their burden and shackles which were upon them so those who believe in him, and honor him and help him and follow the light which has been sent down with him these are the successful ones

Meaning of Ummi  Unread, not taught by anyone, unschooled. Reading and Writing are a means to achieve knowledge, not knowledge itself. The Prophet (s) was given knowledge by Allah and was not taught by any human beings.  From the Ummul Quraa, mother of the Villages which was a name of the city of Makkah  From the general public

Predictions in Previous Books It is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away the Comforter will not come to you but if I depart, I will send him unto you.... I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot hear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of Truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak. (John, 18: 7-14) I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. (Deuteronomy, 18:18-19)

Guiding according to the Aql  The guidance of the Prophet (s) was based on reason and intelligence.  Meaning of Ma’ruf and Munkar

Guiding according to the Fitrat  The guidance of the Prophet (s) was based on the nature of the human being  Meaning of Fitrat Then set your face upright for religion in the right state the nature made by Allah in which he has made men there is no altering of Allah’s creation That is the right religion but most people do not know. ar-Rum, verse 30

Removing Burdens The Prophet (s) had no selfish motive in guiding the people. The burdens he removed include:  Ignorance  Polytheism  Tribalism  Class system  Egoism and selfishness  Corruption

Al-Fath, verses 8-9  Disrespect of the Prophet (s) at Hudaybiyya  A reminder of the Qualities of the Prophet  A Witness - an-Nisaa, verse 41 - at-Tawbah, verse 105  A Bearer of good news and a Warner  Duties of the believers towards him

How will it be, then, when We bring from every people a witness, and bring you as a witness against them? (An-Nisaa, verse 41) And say, Work! so Allah will see your work and (so will) His Messenger and the believers And you shall be brought back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, then He will inform you of what you did. (at-Tawbah, verse 105)

Al-Ahzab, verses O Prophet! Surely We have sent you as a witness and a bearer of good news and a warner and as one inviting towards Allah by His permission and as a light giving torch
