NEA Bylaw 3-1(g) and the UEA Minority Involvement Plan

“It is the policy of the Association to achieve ethnic minority delegate representation at least equal to the proportion of identified ethnic minority populations within the state.”

Utah’s NEA Representative Assembly (RA) Delegation The 2010 Census shows Utah has a 20 percent ethnic population RA Ethnic Minority Goal: 20 percent of our attending delegates are ethnic minority RA Ethnic Minority Attendance: 6 to 14 percent of our attending delegates ?? Can we do better??

In addition to trying to achieve the numerical goal … …We must remember that our most important goal is to recognize our responsibility for the meaningful involvement of ethnic minority members.

We need a commitment throughout all levels of the organization for this to be successful. State/UEA Sharon Gallagher-Fishbaugh President Board Staff Ethnic Minority Director Maurice Hamilton Locals Officers Board UniServ Officers Board Staff MIP
