A Framework for Optimized Handover Operation 7 The lack of standardized mechanisms and services facilitating handovers between heterogeneous networks has been addressed by IEEE MIHF  Event (MIES)  Command (MICS)  Information service (MIIS)  MIH_SAP

A Framework for Optimized Handover Operation 8 The MIHF exploits triggers from the linklayer to  facilitate handover initiation (network discovery, network selection, handover negotiation)and  handover preparation (L2 and L3 connectivity, resource reservation).
