God’s Wisdom in Raising Teens Need Godly not Worldly Wisdom Remember: Hard to parent a teen, but it is also hard to be teenager!

Dedication To our Oldham Woods teenagers! Great Joy to teach them Been the most successful group evangelistically among us! 1 Tim 4:12 “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in moral purity.”

Critical and formative years! Experiences & memories are especially intense. Frontal lobe of the brain is not fully developed yet!

How do you build a home that will endure? The World--food, shelter, & education. Christians – Unconditional love Acceptance Discipline (Tough love) T I M E How many have heard these before?

Foundational three step process: Knowledge... Leads to Understanding...Enables one to Attain Wisdom...

FIRST STEP: KNOWLEDGE Deals with WHAT. Easy part Simply takes observation and listening.

SECOND STEP: UNDERSTANDING. Tough –takes time. Answers the question WHY. Gets at the heart of the issue; which brings about lasting change. Federal Govt.. War on drugs! The Home is similar Why don’t we want to ask WHY? Requires one to think, pray, and ponder! Until you deal with the WHY question you will have endless battles over the WHAT question.

THIRD STEP: WISDOM... Asks what’s going on? To Attain knowledge Asks WHY To Receive Understanding. Then.. Asks How do I deal with the What in light of the Why? Pray for wisdom Jas 1:5

Invitation What is going on with your life? The reason why is you need JC! John 8:24 “If ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” The path of wisdom is to do something about that now before it is too late! 2 Cor 6:2 “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

SIX WISDOM PRINCIPLES Wisdom focuses on maturity not age in regard to privilege. Wisdom understands that peace is not always worth the price. Respect is developed through disciple – not leniency. Wisdom focuses on a child’s personal accountability to God. Wisdom understands that different people are loved in different ways.
