Steve Petch Sunday 17 th November 2013 The Greatest Commandment Part 4 – True Communion 1 Corinthians 11 v

What is worship? “How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like precious oil on the head … For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.” (Psalm 133) Unity is one expression of our worship

True Communion Almost every Christian church celebrates this in one form or another

True Communion Four questions: 1.What was going on in Corinth? 2.What is the theological background to “The Lord’s Supper”? 3.How should we do this today? 4.What should our attitude be?

True Communion 1. What was going on in Corinth?

True Communion 2. What is the theological background to “The Lord’s Supper”?

True Communion 3. How should we do this today?

True Communion Does the bread and wine become Jesus’ actual flesh and blood? What about the need for a priest?

True Communion 4. What should our attitude be? We need to recognise our relationship with God through Jesus We need to recognise our relationship with one another through Jesus

True Communion Three things to do: 1. Examine ourselves 2. Recommit ourselves to Jesus 3. Recommit ourselves to unity
