 Literalmente, el verbo GUSTAR significa «to be pleasing to».  Use an indirect object pronoun before the verb to indicate who is pleased.  Conjugate «gustar» according to the item (noun) that is pleasing.

IOP + form of gustar + subject MMe gustó la película. ›I›I liked the movie. ›L›Literalmente: The movie pleased me. ¿¿Te gustan los conciertos de rock? ›D›Do you like rock concerts? ›L›Literalmente: Do rock concerts please you?

 Because the subject is the item or items that are pleasing, usually only the third person singular and plural forms are used.  When it is followed by one or more verbs in the infinitive, use the 3 rd person singular conjugation. › No nos gusta llegar tarde. › Les gusta cantar y bailar.

 To soften a request and sound more polite, «gustar» is used in the conditional tense. › Me gustarían las papas fritas, por favor. › ¿Te gustaría ir a una cita con mi amigo?

««Faltar» expresses what someone or something lacks. ›L›Le falta dinero. ›L›Le falta sal a la comida. ««Quedar» expresses what someone or something has left. It’s also used to talk about how clothing fits or looks on someone. ›A›A la impresora no le queda papel. ›E›Esa falda te queda bien.

MMe fascina el cine. AA Sandra le disgusta esa situación. ¿¿ Te molesta si voy contigo? MMe duelen sus mentiras.

 To add emphasis or clarify who is pleased, bothered, etc., use the following construction before the verb: › a + prepositional pronoun › a + noun  A ella no le gusta bailar pero a él sí.  A Felipe le molesta ir de compras.
