Levator scapulae dorsalis (9) is like a thin ribbon that sits on top of splenius (10), which is the thick muscle underneath. Spinalis dorsi (15) is a sheet of muscles that run along the side of the vertebral column UNDERNEATH latissimus dorsi. You have to cut one of the latissimus dorsi flaps and lift it up to see spinalis dorsi. Just learn “Rhomboideus” or “Rhomboids” (11-12) for the cat, but in cadaver you need to specify Rhomboidius major vs. minor.
